Sometimes I forget how good it is to own a Mac. I suppose I take it for granted sometimes. Seriously. Last night, my daughter had Family Math Night at the school. There were several activity stations – each with a math game or puzzle. One of the stations was a group of laptop computers running, of course, Windows. Well, for starters, none of the computers could connect to the network. To be fair, I’m not even going to blame this on Windows or even the PCs. It seemed to be a problem with the school’s network. OK – these things happen.
Anyway, one of the girls next to Arianna was on one of the PCs and all of a sudden…

But this isn’t the first time I have seen this in public. In fact, I’ve started to take pictures of the infamous blue screen of death and other Windows mishaps whenever I see it in public. Just a few months ago, when we were at the Liberty Science Center, many of the PCs for the various attractions using Windows were broken:

I’m not going to go into all of the reasons why everyone should abandon their Windows PC and switch to a Mac. The frustration that most people feel with Windows machines should be reason enough to consider a Mac. I use a Windows PC at work on a daily basis, and have for over 10 years, and I can tell you – I have the same (and more) problems that I have had a decade ago. And it gets worse every year. Applications freeze the entire PC, programs become unresponsive, which screws up any other programs running, etc…
I even have Windows on my Mac which I run from time to time (Jen uses it everyday for work), but even on a Mac – Windows is Windows. The most familiar key combinations are still CTRL-ALT-DEL, and I see the blue CHKDISK quite often. As a former Windows programmer, I have gladly switched over 6 years ago. Maybe you should too!

I have said this over and over again. This stock can make you rich! Look at the chart, look at the future direction of the company. Make all of your arguments about the stock being too expensive… It’s not. Start averaging in now, especially before the release of the iPhone. You will probably not be able to buy in at these levels much longer.
It’s about time! I want my Apple TV! While I don’t think it’s going to change the way I watch TV (yet), I will love having quick and easy access to my photos and home movies on my big screen TV. I am hoping that they incorporate web browsing too and maybe some other goodies.

Before you know it, there will be a ton of 3rd party applications which will allow you to do all kinds of things with Apple TV. There is no doubt that Apple TV will be “missing” some things, but that’s the way Apple is. They don’t rush to get as many features into a product as they can. They perfect the core features first, then, when they’re good and ready, they add more.Think about the iPod. The iPod was one of the last MP3 players to get a color screen. There were other players that had many more features. Some were eventually integrated into the iPod, some never were and never will.
I finally did it. I ordered a wireless modem card for my Mac from Verizon Wireless. I chose Verizon for 2 reasons:
- I have a MacBook Pro with an ExpressCard slot. Cingular (my cellular provider) does not yet have any wireless modems for ExpressCards. I’ve been waiting for them to get with the program forever.
- From what I’ve heard and read, the Verizon EV-DO data network is much faster than Cingular’s EDGE network anyway.

To make things better, I can (and will soon) update to the BroadbandAccess plan for free! The slower speed is NationalAccess, which is available in most places. There is usually a $20 monthly difference in price, but I can upgrade for free through their website. So as soon as I get my password in the mail (I should receive today), I will be able to upgrade. We will be able to use this when we’re in Las Vegas or staying at hotels or wherever we are. I haven’t really had a chance to use it much so I can’t write about its performance. I can tell you however, that since I am running a Mac, I do not have to install any software on my computer in order for it to work! I just plug it in and presto!I love my Mac.
