The Playboy Club – Las Vegas
December 5th, 2006In case you haven’t heard, the Playboy Club is back! Well, sorta… I’ll explain in a minute. We’ve all heard the stories of the Playboy Clubs from ‘back in the day’. In fact, there was one up by Vernon Valley, NJ. I remember it as a kid. And as an adult, I always thought that it would be a cool place to go.
This fall, the new Playboy Club opened on the top of the Palms new Fantasy Tower. But if you want to go on a friday or saturday, it’s a whopping $40 cover charge. No thanks. My wife and I decided to check it out on a monday night, when the cover charge was $20. That’s the average cover charge for any club in Vegas, so I was OK with it.
The club itself is actually not operated by Playboy at all. It’s just licensed. The N9NE Group actually operates the club. The club certainly is beautiful and the views of Las Vegas are breathtaking. Theres a display of Playboy magazines and memorbilia from throughout the years. The club has the 70s Playboy design as you may expect with a modern twist.
You can play Blackjack with any of the Bunny dealers. While they were attractive, they were less than personable. Playboy is not only about looks, but personality too, and this club certainly lacks that. It wasn’t just one Bunny, it was every one we came in contact with.
To be totally honest, I haven’t been overly impressed with any of the Vegas club scene from a social perspective. They are all beautiful and sell overpriced alcohol, but they are stuffy and the club security watches every single move you make. When we were at the Ghostbar last time, I was leaning against a couch and Secuity beamed their flashlight at me and told me that leaning was not allowed.
It was worth it for the experience I guess, but I won’t be going back. I bet it would have been much better if Playboy actually owned the club.
I guess we’ll just have to open out own club someday and show people how to really have a good time!!
